I really wish I could figure this one out... Had you installed a previous version before?
Here is how to get through the road block:

- Right click on the installer
- Select "Show Package Contents"
- Go in Contents / Resources
- Double click on "AirPrintActivatorPrefs.prefpane
- Select to install for one user

I attempted to install the lastest beta on lion but it fails and says that "the preference pane could not be installed. Please try again

Just tried printing after updating bot the Mac OS to 10.7.4 and the iPhone to 5.1.1 and all is well. So it must be something else on your end.

Installed the new version On my Mac ( Lion 10.7). All went well and the activator is showing both of my printers as being “advertised”. However, neither my iPhone nor my iPad recognize any of the printers (2). All printers show sharing in system preferences. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program twice. No luck. Can anybody give me any suggestion on how to make this thing work. By the way, it works on my Mac (Snow Leopard) at home. thanks, Mike

Something is gripping with the installer that prevent it prom copying the files in the right location... But you can do it manually. Right click on the installer and select open content. Then go down resrces/content and double click on the AirPrintActivatorPrefs.prefs icon. Make sure to only install for one user.

That should get you going.

This program would be perfect if it wasn't for the fact that you MUST be logged in. It can't be that hard to have it start as a system daemon so that you don't have to be logged in. This is a HUGE downside if you use the computer with other users. Other than that, your program is great. If you can get it to startup as a system daemon then you will have perfected it. Until then, though, many of us will be left unable to really use the software (if we need to log out to conserve system resources).

My script-fu is growing. Found that i can close window on clean exit, then set osascript to .bash_profile to quit terminal after last window exits. thanx for all the support.

I agree, this is absolutely terrific product, how could I make this work from Lion Server as service? I have to keep Server Log-in Screen on for it to run.

Just what I needed! I tried installing 2.2b from a network share, but it would crash so I tried 2.1b7 which worked. I removed 2.1b7, put the installer on the desktop and then it installed without issues. One for the docs.

And with 2.2b, duplex printing works with a Brother HL-2270DW Laser. I wish I had access to a few other parameters like Toner Save, Portrait/Landscape, and Scaling, but for the occasional printing I do from iOS, it's just fine.

Make sure to download and run on a Mac. By the way, try downloading v2.2b2 instead of v2.1b6 ;-)

Any hints as to how this works? I've tried everything to try and get my custom WAB services to show up over VPN, but have come up empty. Works like a charm when corrected to WiFi, comes up empty on 3g... so frustrating I could scream.

Works perfectly! It would be nice if it could start as a system daemon, so that nobody needs to be logged in to be able to print from iOS devices.
